In 2012, the British Army changed their issued combat boots from black to brown to complement their MTP (Multi Terrain Pattern) camouflage design and for the environments in which they are deployed.

Premium boot manufacturers followed suit and released MOD brown versions of their combat boots available for the military and outdoor enthusiast.
